Sovereign Gold Bond Scheme 2023-24 (Series II) – Issue Price
In terms of Government of India Notification No.4(6)-B(W&M)/2023 dated June 14, 2023, Sovereign Gold Bonds 2023-24 (Series II) will be opened for subscription during the period September 11-15, 2023 with Settlement date September 20, 2023. The issue price of the Bond during the subscription period shall be Rs. 5,923 (Rupees Five Thousand Nine Hundred Twenty Three only) per gram, as also published by RBI in their Press Release dated September 08, 2023.
The Government of India in consultation with the Reserve Bank of India has decided to allow discount of Rs. 50 (Rupees Fifty only) per gram from the issue price to those investors who apply online and the payment is made through digital mode. For such investors the issue price of Gold Bond will be Rs. 5,873 (Rupees Five Thousand Eight Hundred Seventy Three only) per gram of gold.

93% of Rs 2000 banknotes in circulation returned to Banks till August 31, 2023: RBI

Earlier, RBI had announced the withdrawal of Rs 2000 banknotes from circulation. The total value of Rs 2000 banknotes in circulation, which amounted to Rs 3.62 lakh crore on 31.03.2023 had declined to Rs 3.56 lakh crore as at the close of business on May 19, 2023. According to the data received from the banks, Rs 2000 banknotes in circulation as at the close of business on August 31, 2023 stood at Rs 0.24 lakh crore i.e., 93% of banknotes in circulation returned to banks till 31.08.2023.
