NOTIFICATION

912(E).—In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of
section 7 and sub-section (1) of section 10, read with section 74 of the
Indian Post Office Act, 1898 (6 of 1898), the Central Government hereby
makes the following rules further to amend the Indian Post Office
Rules, 1933, namely:-
1.
(1) These rules may be called the Indian Post Office (Third Amendment) Rules, 2022.
(2) They shall come into force on the date of their publication in the Official Gazette.

In the Indian Post Office Rules, 1933 (hereinafter referred to as the
said rules), for rule 196, the following rule shall be substituted,
namely:
"196. During such hours as the Post
Master General may prescribe, any postal article intended for dispatch
by any mail may be presented at the window of any post office and the
articles so presented or posted shall be accepted for dispatch by inland
or foreign post.".
3.Rules 197 of the said rules shall be omitted.

published in the Posts and Telegraphs Manual Volume - I, Legislative
Enactments, Part I, Fifth Edition and lastly amended vide notification
number G.S.R. 402 (E), dated the 30th May, 2022.
