Brief note on :JOINT GUFs – LEGAL ADVOCACY PROGRAM – TRAINING HELD AT NEW DELHI ON 22.& 23 December 2021

Dear  brother Shivkumarji,

I attend the training program of joint GUFs “on legal advocacy program wherein UNI is also a sponsor, on 22, 23 December 2021, at Delhi in Radisson Blu Dwarka.

I thank the Secretary General, for nominating me for the program, it was indeed a great opportunity given to the low rung leaders to equip themselves to lead.

Being a law graduate I am overwhelmed on the knowledge gained, the role of trade union leaders in handling lacunae caused in the IFIs fundings in various organization.  India post may not at present involved in the global IFIs funding.  The quantum of funding India is receiving today , truly the IFIs are going to be in the next door anytime tomorrow.

Welcome address by Mahendra Sharma, former Regional Secretary, ITF, Asia pacific & keynote address by Dr.Pravin Sinha Hon’SG Indian Industrial Relations, Associations.  The Lectures from Dr.Nikhil Raj (Devolopment economist , Consultant KFW (Germany) on IFI Organizing challenges & violations ( cross sectoral studies), ILO (South Asia), UN Women (India), IIED (UK) & Dr. Pravin K Jha Consultant ADB Social Protection, on core Labour standards (IFI Organizing) and its implementation,;  on the day one was very nice and highly enlightening. On day two, the insight of Grievance Redressal Mechanisms by Anjali Bedeker, UNI APRO Coordinator for South Asia Women Activities & Filing of Complaints (Do’s & Don’ts) by Ms. Prema Prasad, Programme Officer, BWI South Asia, were excellent.

I believe the objectives of the training, to provide awareness on international financial institutions (IFIs) mechanism, how to engage with them as a trade union, is met.  The education on ILO and IFI guidelines on core Labour standards, environment, Human Rights & Labour Rights in consonance with the national framework of laws, done justifiably within the available two days program.

The interaction with the top trade union leaders of India from various sectors, brainstorming and needs more training session like this to equip every leader to the accompolish the objective. The overall study and objective of the course designed is to enlighten/equip every trade union leader the role play and handling the IFIs, to uphold the rights of the workers.

Finally, the accommodation, and the hospitality by the coordinators, is very much of high standards. Especially Ms.Anjali Bedeker UNI APRO coordinator for South Asia Women Activities, who helped me right from the day one of the communication, till the last day of the programme.

I thank you once again sir, for the opportunity given and very grateful.

With high regards.
