Lockdown, Day 38: India shut for 2 more weeks

The Centre today extended the nationwide lockdown by another two weeks. This time however, more services will be allowed to resume, specially in the virus-free zones and the zones with minimal cases.

The economic toll of the crippling nationwide lockdown has become too glaring to ignore, with auto maker Maruti selling zero units in all of April. All growth indicators are heading south, revenue collection has fallen off a cliff, and businesses are desperately seeking to wait out this disaster.

    Four deaths, 28 new cases in Indore; district cases now total 1,513.
    Four deaths in Pune; district has now lost 99 people.
    Three deaths, 33 new cases in Rajasthan, total rises to 2,617.

    70 new cases in Uttar Pradesh, total count rises to 2,281.
