Privatisation of Post
Respected all,
Greetings from India
As expected the Postal reforms started in India Post, leading to privatization.
As
a basic step the outsourcing is being implemented in the Sectors of
Mail Booking and Delivery. In the Banking Sector the Rural Banks are
merged with postal Savings Bank and in the India Post payment Bank 100%
recruitment from the market already done leaving the existing posts of
Postal personal of the Savings Bank. As you know one committee
recommended for dividing India Post into 6 corporations as done in Japan
Post by Cory Zeme. This was opposed and stopped by the postal unions.
In
the second term of a Government led by Sri Modi the public sector
undertakings Govt sectors like railways, insurance sectors like LIC of
india were opened to market shares on privatization.
The
defense civilian employees working in the 42 ordinance factories
earning 400millions were sold to Ambani Group of Companies and the
agitating employees were crushed with an ordinance of dismissal and
three years imprisonment.
The
labour reforms started in industrial sector and in the Government
sector who are governed by Statutory rules and without amending statutes
framed under the provisions of constitution of India, severe amendments
are made making of recognized trade unions non functional.
Taking
the experience of ordinance factories my union is compelled to file
writ petitions in the high court in all Postal Circles by spending
thousands of rupees to overcome from the litigation. But the relief is
very much temporary and the survival will end with the statutory
amendments once approved.
In this connection I refer to the webinar by UNI on 30th October 2020 in India and paper printed by professor Sarath T. Savanth.
FNPO
the direct affiliate of UNI understood the situation and struggling for
the international support for the moral support and financial support
as it cannot bear the expenses for training and enlightenment of the
Cadre in the new situation of Postal as well as labour reforms. The
survival now is not guaranteed. They should be prepared for the struggle
and legal ligations/battles and negotiations in the new environment.
The UNI APRO faced these situations in south east asia and negotiated the governments and achieved positive results.
My
fervent appeal before UNI world congress to examine the serious
situation, assist the major affiliate in India for surviving
financially, legally and by negotiations.
Thanking you all,
With fraternal greetings,
Vasireddy Sivaji
Secretary General, FNPO
