1.Omniva parcel machine network to be revamped October 21, 2022 Omniva is investing in its network and this year and next year a total of 267 parcel machines will be replaced and installed across the Baltics.
‘Omniva has the largest network across the Baltics – 960 parcel machines in total – but the volume of parcel deliveries is growing and the expectation for new parcel machines remains high. We want to offer the best service close to home, and to this end we are installing more parcel machines and replacing the out-dated ones with new ones,’ said Kristi Unt, member of the management board of Omniva. Of the 309 parcel machines in Estonia, almost 30 are located in settlements where only Omniva is present. According to Kristi Unt, it is responsible to support people living in smaller settlements, where there are few retail establishments and more and more people order basic goods and services either by courier or to a parcel machine. ‘This year, in cooperation with local municipalities, we installed nearly 40 new parcel machines across Estonia. Many of them were located in small villages, where until now there were no parcel machines,’ emphasised Kristi Unt. ‘In the near future, we will install 10 more parcel machines, for which preparations are already underway. At the end of this year and next year, we will upgrade the Estonian network with 115 parcel machines, which includes replacing out-dated ones and installing new ones,’ Unt added. Omniva parcel machines are located outdoors and can be accessed at any time of the day or day of the week. They can be used to send parcels to Omniva parcel machines across the Baltics and to post offices, or to order a courier delivery. In addition, parcels up to L-size (39 × 38 × 64) can be sent to other parts of the EU. You can also receive online purchases you have ordered or parcels sent from another private person. Return and parcel storage services are also available as an additional service.

2.Regional postie Neil Jackson retires after 47 years of service to Hay, NSW October 21, 2022 Neil Jackson, a postal worker from Hay in the Riverina region, is retiring after a remarkable 47 years of service to his local community.
Pictured above from left to right: retiring postie Neil Jackson, NSW regional Official Cade Anderson and local Hay postie Jim Ovens
He has been a postie in the Hay area since 1975, becoming a popular and well-respected face about the town. “It started out as a job, but after 20, 30 years it becomes a lifestyle,” says Neil Jackson. Jackson says he’s most looking forward to spending time with his grandchildren, who keep him young. “I’m going to take it easy for a couple of months and see where it leads to, and get my golf handicap down a bit.” Branch Secretary Shane Murphy says Neil has been a pivotal part of the Hay community, having seen the community through good times and bad over almost five decades. “Everyone knows Neil, the local postie. To see him hang up the satchel after all these years will be a sad moment for many in the area,” Mr Murphy said.“He has shown nothing short of an outstanding commitment to his work and his community. We cannot thank Neil enough for all he has done over the course of his career. “As a Union member, he demonstrated the value of standing alongside his colleagues and never wavered in the fight to protect and improve their rights at work. “He is a treasured local figure, and after nearly five decades of service there is no doubt he will be missed. “We offer our sincerest congratulations and wish him nothing but the best in all his future endeavours. We look forward to sharing a cuppa with him if we see him around.”

3.DPD partners with nebenan.de, Germany’s largest neighbourhood platform October 20, 2022 Thanks to a partnership between DPD Germany and the neighbourhood platform nebenan.de, protecting the climate and getting to know your new neighbours at the same time will be the future.
DPD parcel consignees can now find their preferred neighbour on nebenan.de and ask directly whether the person involved can take delivery of a parcel which is on its way. With just a few clicks parcel consignees can now even reach neighbours who don’t live in their own building. Another advantage of the cooperation is more successful first-time deliveries, and consequently the reduction of environmentally harmful CO2 emissions.
Michael Knaupe, Chief Customer Experience & Business Development Officer at DPD Germany, points out: “With this cooperation we are focusing strongly on innovation and sustainability. It is our clear goal to make the lives of parcel consignees easier by enabling them to network with the neighbourhood, and to make a difference in social and sustainability terms by achieving a high rate of deliveries at the first attempt.” A study commissioned by DPD Germany emphasises the relevance of the cooperation for individual parcel consignees. For example, almost every second person aged 18 to 49 has parcels delivered even during prolonged absences such as a holiday. However, the delivery of parcels to randomly selected neighbours is not very popular. Instead, when they themselves are away almost 50 percent of the participants in the survey would prefer their parcels to be left with neighbours they know personally. Only about twelve percent of the respondents were happy to have their parcels delivered to randomly selected neighbours. According to the study, almost half of the respondents have a guilty conscience if their parcel deliveries are left with such neighbours during an extended absence. DPD Germany and nebenan.de have therefore launched the new delivery option in order to meet the need of parcel consignees for reliable delivery, to prevent pangs of conscience and to reduce the negative environmental impact of failed delivery attempts. “The ‘Parcel neighbours’ project brings the neighbourhood closer together: neighbours get to know each other better first online then offline and help each other in their everyday lives. This strengthens local solidarity,” says Ina Remmers, founder of nebenan.de.
4.bpost makes further sustainability advances hand in hand with Vinted October 19, 2022
bpost and Vinted strengthen their partnership. Now Belgian users on Europe’s largest online platform for consumers who love second-hand clothes are able to send and receive their garments and accessories easy… and in a more sustainable way. Parcels delivered by bpost arrive within one or two days depending on what time of day the sender drops them off. They can be dropped off and picked up at one of the 2600-plus bpost Pick-up Points. The nearest is never more than 5km away.
Sustainability Sustainability and circular economy are key nonnegotiables for bpost, which is dedicated to developing more ecologically sound planet-friendly delivery solutions: Pick-up Points and Parcel Lockers that cut carbon emissions by 30% on average compared with home delivery. Vinted supports a circular economy by offering an online platform for users to give clothes a new life by selling them, as well as to buy second-hand clothes. Vinted and bpost have united behind these shared goals. The e-commerce logistics company has now been confirmed as a preferred delivery partner of the platform, which aims to give preloved items a new lease of life. How it works is easy. Once the sales transaction via Vinted has gone through and the buyer has chosen bpost for delivery, the seller simply creates and prints a bpost shipping label on the Vinted platform at a very advantageous price. That’s because Vinted users benefit from competitive bpost postage tariffs. And as more sustainable shipping options is a value shared by Vinted and bpost, buyers can choose their preferred delivery location and the seller never has to go far to drop off the parcel at one of the 2000-plus bpost Drop-off Points or one of the 600-plus Parcel Locker locations in Belgium.
Reliable, also abroad
The parcels are delivered within one to two days in Belgium (depending on what time of day the sender drops them off) and can be tracked by both seller and buyer in the My bpost app or on the Track &Trace webpage. As well as taking care of shipments between second-hand hunters in Belgium, bpost also ensures the delivery of parcels in Luxembourg, the Netherlands and France.

5.Posti and war veteran associations organizing popular card campaign again October 17, 2022 Posti and the war veteran associations are organizing a card campaign for the eighth time. The campaign provides all Finns with the opportunity to bring joy to our war veterans and war-time women.
“The card campaign is a valued tradition for us. For the generation of veterans, letters and cards are a familiar way of staying in touch. With this in mind, we want our campaign to show our veterans, our war-time women and former Lotta women and girls how highly they are regardedby Finns for what they did for our independent Finland,” says Sami Määttä, responsible for domestic consumer letter services. The card campaign started on Monday, October 17, and cards can be sent until November 10. Posti will deliver the cards to the veterans and war-time women by Independence Day. There are about 3,500 veterans remaining in Finland as well as approximately 10,000 war-time women, 1,000 Lotta women and 4,000 Lotta girls. The purpose of the campaign is to bring relief to the loneliness of the men and women of our wars, joy to Independence Day and a warm spirit in anticipation of Christmas. "The number of veterans and women of our wars is currently decreasing rapidly. After all, each of the veterans is over 90 years old. Now is a good moment to thank and send warmth to those who gave us an independent Finland", emphasizes Pia Mikkonen, of the Sotiemme Veteraanit (Our War Veterans) and Sotiemme Naiset (The Women of our Wars) collection. “We especially encourage young people to participate in this card campaign. The central mission of our foundation is to support young people to grow into bearers of social responsibility and to understand the importance of the war generation to our free country. A postcard makes you happy, respects and thanks, and relieves loneliness long after it arrives”, says Susan Mykrä, Lotta Svärd Foundation. Cards can be sent by private individuals, school classes, communities as well as companies. You participate in the campaign by writing a greeting on a card. Attach a stamp and send to the campaign address. You can also send several cards at once. Then put the cards in an envelope and attach the number of stamps required by the weight to the envelope. Cards inside the envelope do not need a stamp.

1.NZ Post acquires 60 electric vans October 21, 2022
NZ Post is to add 60 electric vans to its fleet to replace diesel and petrol vans previously used for last-mile delivery
This initiative is intended to help the company achieve its science-based target and reduce its emissions by a third by 2030. According to NZ Post, the bulk purchase has enabled it to overcome supply chain challenges in accessing the electric vehicles – a move made possible through an arrangement with New Zealand Green Investment Finance (NZGIF), with each party contributing NZ$10m (US$5.6m). NZ Post received a shipment of 22 new all-electric Mercedes-Benz eVito panel vans at the end of July 2022. It was the first delivery of 60 such vehicles on order, with the remainder due to arrive by the end of 2022. The vans will be made available for NZ Post’s delivery partners to acquire, with the inclusion of an NZ Post incentive. NZ Post, with NZGIF, has structured a deal that offers NZ Post’s contract delivery partners competitive financing and pricing benefits from a tiered leasing model. Alongside this, delivery partners have access to expert independent advice through Carbon Asset Management (also an NZGIF majority-owned entity) on the best option for their individual needs. Dawn Baggaley, sustainability manager for NZ Post Group, said, “Transport is one of the largest sources of emissions in Aotearoa at 17% – and we are playing our part to help meet our national reduction plans. Our ambitious carbon reduction target aims to have all our own fleet and a quarter of our last-mile delivery contractor fleet electric by 2025 – with the balance of the contractor fleet electric by 2030. It’s a milestone to celebrate ata time when climate change is impacting our communities. It’s a matter of urgency that we do everything we can to reduce emissions, and we are also seeking to assist our delivery partners shifting to low-carbon delivery. Sustainability is embedded in our culture at NZ Post, and this is just another way we’re showing we are committed to our people, our communities and delivering for our planet.” Craig Weise, CEO of NZGIF, said, “Electric vehicles cost a lot less to run, but the initial purchasing cost can be a barrier. Teaming up with NZGIF and offering this competitive finance deal means our contractors can shift into electric vans sooner rather than later. There are over 2,000 vans in our own fleet and contractor fleet for the last mile that we will be transitioning over to electric to meet our science-based target. We’re excited about this initiative and what it represents for a low-carbon future here in Aotearoa. Not only does this deal help NZ Post electrify their fleet but it will also help kickstart the second-hand commercial EV market, as these vans are on-sold to subsequent owners. This sort of innovative financing is needed to help accelerate investment that supports New Zealand’s decarbonization.” Diane Tarr, managing director of Mercedes-Benz Vans Australia and New Zealand, said, “This is a very exciting step toward a more sustainable future for Mercedes-Benz Vans and our important partner NZ Post. We are now ready with a strong customer-centric electric product portfolio and can’t wait to see the eVito come to life on the road through NZ Post and their delivery partners.”

2.La Poste and the National Confederation of Tobacconists sign a national partnership agreement October 21, 2022
On October 21, 2022, Philippe Wahl – Chairman and CEO of the La Poste group and Philippe Coy – President of the Confederation of Tobacconists, the professional organization representing the 23,500 French tobacconists, signed a 4-year national partnership agreement whose challenge is to meet the needs of proximity and services of the French.
Strengthen the territorial presence of the La Poste group and access to postal services The agreement signed with the Confederation of tobacconists gives them the opportunity to expand their offer with a list of essential postal services such as postage, postage of mail and postage-paid parcels, or the sale of parcel packaging and prepaid envelopes. Thus, customers will be able to find most of La Poste's services over an extended time period. For a period of 4 years, the agreement allows: • for the La Poste group to strengthen its regional presence by relying on the particularly dense network of French tobacconists and to simplify the lives of its customers • for tobacconists to enrich their range of services, to recruit and retain their customers and thus increase the number of visitors to their point of sale, • for customers who frequent the network of tobacconists to access essential postal services, over an extended time slot and complementary to that of a post office, in the heartof the territories, in 12,000 municipalities and in particular in municipalities of less than 3,500 inhabitants.
This new partnership with the Confederation of tobacconists is part of the strategic plan "La Poste 2030, committed to you" whose primary ambition, driven by the Consumer and Digital branch (BGPN) of the La Poste group, is the customer satisfaction. To meet this priority, La Poste wishes to extend and diversify its distribution network with the aim of increasing the number of service points from 35,000 to 40,000 by 2025. The objective is to offer customers a denser territorial network, more accessible, and more suited to their way of life, offering a wider schedule. For its part, as part of its major Transformation Plan, the Confederation is looking for partnership solutions to generate flow at the point of sale. "Being there every day" is the raison d'être of the network of tobacconists: to provide service and social ties.
Consolidated historical links between two local networks anchored in the territories and complementary
For more than 30 years, La Poste has maintained close ties with more than 18,000 tobacconists throughout France, 17,000 who distribute stamps and 1,100 merchant relays, "local utility merchants", offering the of La Poste's services (purchase of stamps, franking of letters, parcels and registered mail, deposits of postal items, registered mail included, sale of pre-franked parcel packaging and envelopes in the territories). As part of this new partnership agreement, new tobacconists are called upon to join this distribution network and enrich their offer of postal products and services.

3.FedEx is reassuring holiday shippers and retailers it can deliver for peak season even after major cost cuts October 20, 2022
• FedEx chief customer officer Brie Carere tells CNBC that the logistics company can meet the demand of peak holiday season despite recent cuts to worker hours, Express delivery flights and facilities.
• FedEx, which recently warned of “global volume softness,” is flexing its existing labor force rather than bringing on holiday seasonal hires at the rate it normally would.
FedEx is confident it can meet the demand of peak holiday season despite recent cuts to worker hours, Express delivery flights and facilities in a broad based cost-cutting effort triggered by “global volume softness” the company cited during its recent earnings in September.
“We expect volumes to be moderate from a year over year perspective. But we are ready for service and we are ready for our customers,” FedEx chief customer officer Brie Carere told CNBC in an exclusive interview. The logistics company released its holiday shipping outlook on Thursday morning. FedEx also faced a pay dispute with a faction of the 6,000 contractors that operate its residential e-commerce focused ground network. In August, the Memphis-based carrier sued its largest contractor, Spencer Patton, who threatened to shut down his business and deliver after Black Friday if he was not given more compensation. Carere says the company “terminated” its agreement with Patton. A spokesperson for Patton tells CNBC they “took away” the routes he operated in 10 states. “Since then [ground] service has not suffered at all,” Carare said. “The network is ready for our customers to support the sales they have now, to support the sales that they’re going to have on Black Friday. We’re also ready for the sales that they’re going to have and we believe will continue right through the month of December,” she added. A glut of inventory for retailers has pushed holiday sales earlier this year with Amazon, Walmart and Target all launching promotions to encourage consumer buying. According to data from logistics research firm Ship Matrix, September e-commerce volume was 3-5% higher year over year. During the month, FedEx had an approximately 93% on time delivery rate compared to 97% for rival UPS. A delivery rate below 95% generally signals network inefficiencies that can lower margin performance, a key metric for transports. On Wednesday, Ship Matrix lowered its estimate for daily e-commerce volume to 90 million packages a day from 92 million packages a day. But founder and CEO Satish Jindel says U.S. delivery networks still have capacity for 110 million packages per day. Overcapacity and its cost also weighs on margins. “We are working really hard to flex our networks,” Carere said. “You will notice that we did not have a hiring announcement like we traditionally do, because this is one way where we’re flexing our existing labor force and we are not going to bring on incremental labor (holiday seasonal hires) at the rate we normally would,” Carere added. A report from Reuters on October 7 citing a memo sent to ground contractors that projected “downward adjustments” to volume forecasts sent the stock lower. However, Carere says that memo was just further clarification on the guidance of weaker demand previously announced by the company in September. “This is part of our peak process every single year,” Carere said. “We advise our contractors to the best of our ability, what volumes to expect so that they can protect their business. So yes, we did communicate to them our new forecast. It was in line with the information that [CEO Raj Subramaniam] shared earlier this year.”
4.World Post Day October 18, 2022 World Post Day was celebrated, as every year,
on October 9 and, this year, according to the declarations of the Secretary General of the United Nations (António Guterres) “ On World Post Day, we celebrate the fundamental contributions of workers postcards to connect people around the world with essential services that improve their daily livesand drive the development of their communities. With a global network and a universal service mandate to ensure access for all, the postal sector is a key partner in our efforts to deliver on the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development .”
But Spain, in postal matters, is, unfortunately, different. For Serrano and his supporters - SEPI, the Treasury and the Government itself - the Public Postal Service (which is the social and economic backbone of the entire national territory and has the character of an essential service, demonstrated during the pandemic and necessary to combat the demographic challenge of Spain emptied), not only is it not important or cause for celebration , but, on the contrary, they have spent three years dedicated with real fury to its collapse and abandonment .
So much so that, embarrassingly, in the midst of the government's alleged social shift and on the outskirts of World Post Day,the Government, with the Serrano Agreement and with the approval of SEPI, has dispatched, for the third consecutive year, 110 million euros for the SPU , that is, 110 million less than the consensus (220 million) in 2017 by the CCOO and UGT with the then Ministry of Development. Not satisfied with its embarrassing postal demolition operation, the Government has also had the audacity and cynicism to remove the SPU from the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG-1) that aim to put an end to relative poverty in all its dimensions, guaranteeing social protection and access to basic services (such as postal services) for people in situations of poverty or social vulnerability, which clashes head-on with the UN Secretary-General's Declaration and exposes the false and fake speech of the emptied Spain with which Serrano makes self-promotion and propaganda. For CCOO and UGT, It is not receipt that a government, from which progressive policies should emanate, looks the other way -if it does not endorse- while the worst president in its history, Juan Manuel Serrano, campaigns for his respects and promotes an intentional dismantling of the public postal service, as well as causing a financial collapse of the public operator Correos and a moral bankruptcy of its staff. And it is much less if you take into account that universal services, such as postal services, are part of the sustainable development goals marked by the un in the 2030 agenda as an essential service, which contributes to the social and economic development of countries, as the secretary general of the united nations pointed out in his speech to celebrate world post day. In this context, it is embarrassing -although no longer surprising- to see how this political character, who will go down in postal history due to the bankruptcy to which he is leading Correos, reissues his usual campaign on October 12, the day of the Fiesta National, to grow politically and personally. On this occasion he has delighted us with another of "his" advertising campaigns (video) , with the consequent waste of tens of thousands of euros, carried out in the purest militia style , including a bugle call, emulating the management style that Serrano practices in Correos for three years and with a whiff of longing to see all the postmen parade whom he hates so much at the pace of the goose for his -his- greater glory. And while Serrano, without dishevelled, Olympically5.Development and innovation: in the country of transition, Poste Italiane remains a strong point October 17, 2022 Poste's financial results and the ability to meet objectives are a demonstration of seriousness and reliability for Italy, which is facing a phase of complete transition skips October 9 "World Post Day" , in most countries, around us and beyond, Post Offices take advantage of that day to present or promote new products and services postcards to offer to citizens highlighting the social aspect that motivates their reason for being. That said, is it understandable and acceptable that the worst president in the history of the Post Office , the one with the military march on October 12 and the contempt for World Post Day celebrated 4 days before; the one that has led it to the economic hole it has ever experienced and has left the workforce at 47,000 workers after losing 8,000 in just three years due to the brutal collapse of activity, the one that has blown up labor relations and dynamited all the bridges; who has caused a moral breakdown in the entire workforce and mistreated and fired "non-compliant" professionals for no reason, it is understandable and acceptable, we said, that this disastrous character. Continue walking your 200,000-euro palm through the country for the sole purpose of being politically beneficial to whoever appointed you in the face of regional and municipal elections, despite causing its collapse?
We are convinced that, except for the collaborationist unions, the palm growers and the palm growers on duty who have been applauding and endorsing this resounding failure in management and the consultants who have been making a fortune from the "unte" of this man, not even the 47,000 workers /as, neither their families, nor the tens of thousands of people who are still emotionally linked to Correos nor the citizens who have seen the gross political use that has been made of the public postal service of our country are going to understand how this character can continue here. Nor how the superiority "in vigilando" (SEPI; Treasury, Government), three years later and verified the disaster, continues to look the other way.

5.Development and innovation: in the country of transition, Poste Italiane remains a strong point October 17, 2022
Poste's financial results and the ability to meet objectives are a demonstration of seriousness and reliability for Italy, which is facing a phase of complete transition
In politics, a cycle closes and a new legislature debuts, while the three emergencies (economic, health and international) continue to dictate the agenda of our priorities. Such a complicated – but also so challenging – context enhances the social role of companies, to which we look to ensure continuity in the decisive issues: work, development, innovation. In times of uncertainty and transition, companies see increased power to influence positively or negatively with their actions the stability of the system, and its future. In light of the half-yearly financial statements presented at the end of July, it can be said that Poste Italiane is making good use of this power. And not only for the financial results, with a profit up by 44%, profitability that increases by 62.7% and the highest half-year operating result in the history of the Group, but for what the figures underlie, starting with the quality of work and the consequent good health of the main segments of the postal business.
New products and features
Financial services take off, where there is no shortage of news: now customers have the opportunity to buy government bonds within the seventeenth issue of the BTP Italia with bonds indexed to Italian inflation and maturity of 8 years. Another novelty is the “BancoPosta Business Link Online Loan” launched in April 2022, in collaboration with Credimi SpA, offering digital loans to sole proprietors and small businesses.
In the area of insurance services, the “Poste Progetto Dinamico Bonus” mixed life insurance product was launched, with a duration of 15 years, aimed at combining a performance-linked insurance product with unit-linked insurance investment components; the new “digital protection” function of “Poste Vivere Protetti” was included in the modular offer. The halfyearly report also reports the growth of the payments and mobile sector where revenues recorded an increase of more than 20% for the third time in the last four quarters. Digital payments is a rapidly growing and evolving market. Thanks also to an innovative omnichannel platform, PostePay has carved out a strategic role for itself in the provision of payment services. And there are now nearly nine million the Evolution cards ; revenues from Telco services are also growing, as is the number of Italians - now over 23 million - who have adopted PosteID to certify their digital identity.
The entrance into energy
It should be noted that on June 15 the Group launched an offer with its own energy brand initially addressed to current employees and retirees. A simple, transparent and 100% green offer, called “Energy 160” in honor of the 160-year history of Poste Italiane, which includes the supply of both gas and electricity for families. The initiative has been well received with around 30,000 contracts signed to date. In the half-year report, the results in the mail, parcel and distribution sector are also in line with expectations. One of the sectors in which Poste periodically launches significant recruitment campaigns. Among the various paragraphs of a chapter that has to do with the roots of the postal service, the data relating to the home delivery service of medicines stand out, which can be "instant" (within 90 minutes of purchase), at a specific time pre-arranged or the day after the purchase. In recent months the service has been extended and is now started in over 170 municipalities. This too has allowed Poste to deliver over 30 million vaccines across the country.
Environment and young people, the priorities But there are numerous news that the financial statements highlight, including those that have to do with business sustainability. There are, for example, progress in the green transition: the renewal of the fleet dedicated to delivery is proceeding , with the inclusion of about 12,000 new vehicles, of which about 770 are electric, 6,000 are hybrids and the remaining part with low emissions. Furthermore, the number of electric charging stations rose to 2,800 as of 30 June 2022. As part of energy efficiency, the company continues the redevelopment of post offices: during the first half of this year, 410,000 LED lamps were installed, over 450 buildings became part of the “Smart Building” project and more than 40 photovoltaic panels were built. They are the building blocks of a construction increasingly compatible with the needs of the environment and with the expectations of young people.
