Cases in India doubling every four days

India's officially confirmed Covid-19 cases jumped to 3,374 as of Saturday with 79 fatalities, even as the global numbers passed the 1.2 million mark with over 65,000 deaths.

In a major decision today, all exports of hydroxycloroquine — the malaria drug on which Trump sought India to relax export rules — were banned.

PM Modi spoke to several leaders including Manmohan Singh, Sonia Gandhi and Pranab Mukherjee, on the Covid-19 situation; meanwhile, India gets ready for a candlelight vigil at 9 pm tonight.

    Two deaths in Tamil Nadu; cases in the state now 485.
    One death in Madhya Pradesh; state's case tally now up to 182.
    One death in Maharashtra; 26 new cases raise total to 661.
    One death in Gujarat; 14 new cases bring the state total to 122.
    One death in Rajasthan; six new cases raise tally to 210.
    34 new cases in Andhra Pradesh; state tally now 226.
