Dear Colleagues,
The Central Working Committee (CWC) Meeting of the National Union of RMS & MMS Employees Group ‘C’ (NURC) was held at Salvation Army Hall, Chennai – 600 003, from 28.01.2026 to 29.01.2026.
The CWC meeting was presided over by Shri Sekhar Bhattacharya, President, NURC.
The meeting was inaugurated by Shri Sivaji Vasireddy, Secretary General, FNPO, who conveyed fraternal greetings on behalf of FNPO and addressed the CWC.
Shri N.K. Tyagi, General Secretary, NURC, presented the CWC Report for the period from 01.09.2024 to 31.12.2025. The report was placed before the house for discussion. All Circle Secretaries actively participated in the deliberations and offered their valuable views and suggestions.
The CWC seriously discussed the Cadre Restructuring Committee (CRC) Report issued by the Department of Posts vide letter dated 28.01.2026. After detailed deliberations, the CWC strongly opposed the proposal to merge the Sorting Assistant cadre with the Postal Assistant cadre, stating that such a move would adversely affect cadre identity, functional efficiency, and industrial harmony.
As per the direction of the CWC, the General Secretary was instructed to address the Chairperson, Postal Board, conveying the strong opposition of the Union to the CRC proposal.
Second Day – 29.01.2026
On 29.01.2026, the CWC met again at 11:00 AM and further deliberated on the issue of downgrading National Sorting Hubs (NSH) to Intra Circle Hubs (ICH).
The CWC deeply recorded its strong dissent and concern over the proposal to downgrade NSHs to ICHs. The Committee unanimously resolved that such downgrading would seriously affect operational efficiency, workload management, and career prospects of employees.
Accordingly, the CWC directed the General Secretary to submit detailed, page-wise comments on the proposal to the Directorate.
The CWC also resolved that the General Secretary shall take an appropriate decision regarding submission of the 8th Central Pay Commission (8th CPC) Memorandum, after carefully examining the decisions taken at the National Joint Council of Action (NJCM) level.
The CWC unanimously placed on record its sincere appreciation and thanks to the Reception Committee of Tamil Nadu Circle for making excellent arrangements and ensuring the smooth and successful conduct of the CWC meeting.
The General Secretary, Shri N.K. Tyagi, expressed his gratitude to all Circle Secretaries for their cooperation and support during the period under review.
Regarding the next All India Conference (AIC), it was proposed that the conference may be held in West Bengal. The West Bengal Circle Secretary informed that the final decision would be taken after consultation with Divisional Secretaries within a fortnight.
The Tamil Nadu Circle also came forward to host the AIC in case no other Circle is willing to do so.
The meeting concluded with a vote of thanks by NURC Tamil Nadu Circle, followed by the National Anthem, with the hall resonating with the slogan:
“FNPO Zindabad!”
A detailed CWC report will follow separately.
With regards,
(N.K. Tyagi)
General Secretary
